For some reasons, Thoumieux was taken over by the Costes brother and Jean-Francois Piege, a pedigree chef with an undoubted reputation. Well, a takeover is risky. After being around for a hundred years, Thoumieux definitely has established some sort of its own standard and characteristics in their meals. People have the right to assume that everything won’t be as good as it was.
However, Piege and the Costas brother proved differently. Their takeover has brilliantly brought a new era of Thoumieux. Francois Simon even complimented that they have brought back the soul of Thoumieux and described it as “without doubt one of the best pieces of news of the season.”
You can feel a significant Asian influence in the meals served. Some highlighted foods served in Thoumieux are its bread and butter with sardine pate, frisee salad with a poached egg and royale of smoked lardoons, wild calamari salad prepared in a carbonara style, “Oteiza” pork belly with onion crackling and Puy lentils, prepared Thai style with a rice cake. For the last food mentioned, it has a strong turmeric flavor so if you are not a fan of curry, then you better stay away from this one.
For the desert, the chocolate, apple, and lemon tarts are perfect to end a brilliant course of foods. Thoumieux also has one of the restaurants with the best salads in Paris. Surely it is a good place for you whenever you want to eat great salad in the middle of the day.
Aside from its exquisite foods, Thoumieux also provides its diners with the best service. Their waiter and waitresses are always nice and helpful with a good looking face as a plus point. Tap water is always refilled which makes you feel that the servers are always ready for you.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is warm and joyous. Thus, you will enjoy it more when you have a few companies with you. You won’t have the difficulty to find many groups of people having their meals there.
